5 ways Foxhunters will help you stay active and independent

At Foxhunters Care Community, we believe in promoting a healthy lifestyle and positive wellbeing, whatever your age or ability. We believe that an active life means an active mind, and we work with our residents to help you stay as active and independent as possible. Even if you’re not quite as mobile as you once were, our onsite fitness, rehabilitation and wellness expert will work with you to create tailored a programme that matches your needs. Here are a few of the ways that we encourage an active and independent lifestyle at Foxhunters.

1.    Onsite fitness suite and exercise programmes

Foxhunters Care Community has an onsite gym, with specially designed equipment to help older people keep active and mobile. Our onsite fitness expert has experience in working with people with degenerative joint diseases and hip or knee problems and will work with you to slowly rebuild these problem areas through tailored fitness programmes. We also hold regular fitness classes and therapy sessions, making fitness and wellbeing a fun and social activity.

2.    Daily activity programmes

We offer a daily programme of activities to keep our residents active and entertained. All the activities we run are driven by the interests of our residents, giving them the chance to get back into old hobbies or try something completely new. Some of our regular activities include art and music therapy, pet therapy, fitness classes, various outings and anything else requested by our residents.

3.    Gardening club

Gardening has been proven to boost health and wellbeing in care homes and for some, it’s highly therapeutic. The Foxhunters gardening club is for green fingered residents who would like to get involved with maintaining the gardens in the care community. We’ve installed raised flowerbeds throughout the gardens, so residents can tend to the flowers with ease and we also have wheelchair friendly paths right the way round, to ensure that everyone can get involved. We believe it’s a fantastic way for residents to stay active and healthy, whilst doing something they love.

4.    Trips out with our complementary chauffeur service

We encourage our residents to be as independent as possible and offer a complementary chauffeuring service 7 days a week for residents to enjoy day trips out to the local towns, villages, seaside or anywhere else they would like to visit. You might even have a family party nearby that you don’t want to miss. There is plenty of space for you to invite friends and family along with you on your trips and the car is also wheelchair friendly, so all our residents can enjoy the service.

5.    Personalised rooms

We don’t believe in clinical and institutionalised care home environments. We think an important part of keeping your independence is having the option to create a personalised living space, filled with cherished items. At Foxhunters Care Community, residents can choose to leave their rooms unfurnished, so that they can fill it themselves with familiar and sentimental items from home. This creates a more personal and independent living space for our residents to enjoy.
